Omni Remanufacturing is a privately held holding company headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. Two businesses operate under the Omni umbrella—Revest Midwest and A&M Business Interior Services.

Revest Midwest is a remanufacturer of Steelcase office system furniture. Revest’s goals are simple—to help their customers leverage the value of their existing furniture base, help them manage their furniture assets, and to lower their furniture costs. This is done through the manufacture of the highest quality office systems furniture emphasizing the environmental benefits of the remanufacturing process. Revest also offers trade-in and buyback services.

A&M Business Interior Services is the leading provider of the office furniture services in the Midwest. For over 20 years they have been offering the seamless delivery of office furniture installation, maintenance, and storage needs, change coordination and project implementation. A&M’s customer base includes many of the Fortune 500 companies in the Midwest.

The Need to Manage Information

Omni’s previous accounting system was an aging MAS90. Due to two companies and multiple locations, it became increasingly important that their accounting system provide outstanding support, scalable design, and effortless integration with third party products.

Business Solution

Omni Remanufacturing determined that the Microsoft Dynamics GP system offered the most robust scalable solution for their needs. The system includes FRx, Integration Manager, Receivables, Payables, Bank Reconciliation, Sales Order Processing, Inventory, Payroll, and Crystal Reports. Dynamics combined with ServiceTRAX has become a powerful one-stop shopping solution for Omni’s enterprise.

ServiceTRAX is a custom Java application developed by Omni and OTT, Inc. For Omni’s customers, ServiceTRAX allows them to request bids and services, create checklists and view the status of building and moving projects online. For their employees, in multiple locations, ServiceTRAX notifies them of jobs they are scheduled for and allows them to enter time and billing information on Palm PDA’s without any need for paper. Information is synched between the palm PDA and ServiceTRAX. Once the approved time and billing information is in ServiceTRAX, accounting personnel edit the information as necessary and with the click of a button it becomes an invoice to bill from within Dynamics.

The Results

Dynamics has provided increased overall efficiency and allowed them to integrate all of their operations. The system has generated cost savings, saved them time, and facilitated Omni’s growth into an industry leader. The ease of administration and lower overhead of MSSQL Server2000 and Dynamics 6.0 has enabled seamless integration with many other custom apolications.
