The Need to Manage Information
HSI’s biggest challenge was having a system that could handle their complex financial management and payroll requirements. They also needed a system that was easy to use and could integrate with their vertical industry applications.
In 1998, HSI purchased Microsoft Dynamics GP. They opted for an 18-user system consisting of Financials, Modifier, Integration Manager and Integration Assistant for Excel, Human Resources, Payroll, Direct Deposit, and the Back Office Tools Suite.
Mark Lien, CFO, states, “The financial management system handles our complex payroll and general ledger requirements very well. We can control batches and posting, use allocation accounts, and keep multiple years open at one time. We also benefit from the easy navigation through the drill back capabilities, searching mechanisms, and shortcuts.” HSI uses the Microsoft SQL Server database to run Microsoft Dynamics GP. Mark states, “The Microsoft SQL database gives us easy access to data for reporting, importing, and exporting. It also gives us the ability to make system changes such as renaming vendors or customers and combining history for duplicates. This gives us better information to make business decisions and service our customers.”
HSI also uses Mekorma’s MICR check printing for Payables and Payroll. This solution allows HSI to easily control the appearance of their check layouts, signature security, and cuts down on the cost of pre-printed check stock.
OTT, Inc. has provided Habilitative Services with an integrated system that enhances data integrity, provides better information, and saves time and money. In addition it has increased their productivity and efficiency. Smart Lists provides HSI with a quick and easy method to access specific data without designing time-consuming reports. The Back Office Tools Suite has allowed us to change vendor, customer, and employee IDs and names while maintaining all history.
